Mission Statement

Our Mission is to enable persons of all ages who are visually impaired, blind or deaf-blind living throughout Rockland and Orange Counties to lead as independent a life as possible by providing rehabilitation and counseling services in their homes and communities. AVI strives to improve the quality of life for each consumer by recognizing individual preferences and specific needs. We provide individualized rehabilitation teaching, social services, orientation and mobility, functional vision training and educational services.

The Association for the Visually Impaired, Inc. (AVI), a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1973, serves blind and severely visually impaired residents of Rockland and Orange Counties in New York. Services are provided on a one-to-one basis in the consumers' homes and communities. Our goal is to enable our consumers to function independently and to maximize their potential.
